Haight Ashbury Restaurants

Haight Ashbury dining is more about having a good time and dining adventurously then about gourmet food. Most restaurants are casual, fun and often noisy neighborhood eateries. Many reflect an ethnic menu, (hence the adventurous part).
It can be extremely difficult to find parking in the Haight So we recommend taking either the SF Muni N line and getting of at the Judah stop and walking north along Cole street to Haight or taking the SF Bus # 6 along Haight and getting off at Ashbury. Another advantage to transit, along with saving the environment, is the fact that you can enjoy cocktails, wine and beer without endangering yourself, and others, by taking your car.

Cha Cha Cha
1801 Haight St. San Francisco, CA 94117 415-386-5758
Cha Cha Cha is is a well known Haight street tapas and sangria bar which gets quite busy, especially on weekends.  Unfortunately, they don't take reservations, but small groups can often get a seat at the bar, which is also a great place to enjoy tapas. Like most really busy restaurants, service and attitudes can suffer, but if you're in the mood, this is an OK tapas bar choice.  Expect to spend about $50.00 for two with sangria. www.cha3.com

Massawa
1538 Haight St. San Francisco, CA 94117  415-621-4129
If you have not tried Ethiopian (actually Eritrean) food, Then masala is a must do adventure. They also serve African beers and honey wine. Another interesting thing about this restaurant is the fact that the local custom allows people to eat the food with their hands.  Two people can dine here for under $50.00

Pork Store Cafe
1451 Haight St. San Francisco, CA 94117  415-864-6981
The pork store cafe is a favorite breakfast and brunch spot in the Haight.  Food is home cooked, the portion sizes are large and the food quality and coffee is excellent .  Some may complain that the dishes are a little heavy, and this definitely isn't a vegetarian restaurant, but if you enjoy a good hearty traditional breakfast, then this is an excellent choice.   Two people can have brunch here for about $25.00

RNM Restaurant
598 Haight Street San Francisco, CA 94117 415-551-7900
Justine Miner, the owners of RNM, describes the restaurant as an American restaurant with French and Italian influences, and that's a pretty good description. They sell small plates of food for around $10 a plate, and larger dishes for around $22.  They also have an early-bird three course special for $28 between 5:30 PM and 7 PM Tuesday through Saturday. This is a great restaurant for both very big and very small eaters, and the food quality is top-notch.
